Wednesday Night Lesson Notes January 24, 2018 Proverbs Chapter 1
Proverb 1:7 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools depise wisdom and instruction. |
||||
When knowledge is presented, an examinant will will make a decision. Fools, those that do not percive God in the creation, having no belief in the resurrection of the dead, see no gain to leave their own evil life. But, those that do perceive God in the creation welcome knowledge that informs them of the blessings of God, and their first action is to serve Him or have the FEAR OF THE LORD. Consider Acts 17:20-21; 31-34; Deuteronomy 10:20; Joshua 24:13-16. Knowledge reveals God, His grace, His power, His goodness and righeouness. So then, our beginning or first fruits are faith and obeying the gospel, and adding to these, the rewnal of our minds, and continuous service to Christ, and we await His return in regard to our salvation. See 1Corinthians 1:4-9. For the meaning of beginning, compare Genesis 1:1 where the first step first fruits of creation were the heavens nd the earth. From that beginning God's plan of salvation for mankind is put into place. Fools say that God does not exist and they never produce a beginning or first fruits. They continue to live according to their own wisdom. But, nevertheless, God exists. |

In verses 8-13 of chapter 1, a father instructs or trains his son in the way of fools and demonstrates how their wisdom fails them at the end of their life.
Verses 8--9 listen to parent's instructions for you will be rewarded for doing so. Verses 10-14 If sinners entice...conscent not. They entice by saying: 1. Join with us; on one rules over us. 2. We will all share; we shall have riches. The parents advise: Timothy 1. My son do not walk with them. 2. In their lack of knowledge and wisdom, they fall into the obvious trap and ambush. Greed and the desire of quick riches takes away their lives. See James 1:14; Luke 15:11-14; 1Timothy 6:8-10. |

Verses 20-32 Wisdom will deliver the simple from death and fools from destruction.
Vs 20-23 Wisdom is available calling out loudly to the simple, the scorners, and the fools to give up their evil ways and receive knowledge. Vs 24-25 they have refused, not regarded, neglected my counsel, and refused reproof. Vs 26 I will laugh and mock when calmity and oppersion comes. Vs 27-28 when calmity (destruction) and appressions overwhelms all your petty strength and inventions and riches as a tornado or hurricane or earthquake, they will call and seek me diligently. Consider Deuteronomy 32:28, 29. Vs 29-31 Results of living by THE FEAR OF GOD versus the Dread of Evil. See Psalms 23:4; Psalms 49:5 for comments about dread of evil. |
